Governor Michael Parson announced the appointment of BB&D founding member Bob Blitz to serve on the University of Missouri Board of Curators. The Board of Curators the governing body for the University System and its four campuses University of Missouri-Columbia, University of Missouri-St. Louis, Missouri University of Science and Technology and University of Missouri-Kansas City. The Board of Curators consists of nine members, appointed by the Governor with advice and consent of the Senate, at least one of which from each of Missouri’s eight Congressional Districts. The Governor appointed Bob to serve in the 2nd Congressional District position on the Board. Curators are appointed to terms of up to six years.
Bob is a partner and founding member of the firm and has practiced law for nearly 50 years. He has been honored with numerous awards for his accomplishments in the practice of law, including the 2022 BAMSL Distinguished Lawyer Award, Missouri Lawyer’s Weekly ICON Award and Lawyer of the Year in 2016. He also previously served as a member of the St. Louis Regional Conventional Sports Complex Board. Last year, Bob was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame for his tremendous contributions to the sport of wrestling.
Bob holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri – School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Drake University. Bob brings to the Board a keen interest in higher education. In addition, Bob’s late father, Morris Blitz, was instrumental in the founding of the University of Missouri-St. Louis, serving on the committee that worked for the approval of a bond issue to buy land for the University and later serving as Director of Graduate School Admissions for the school.
